Against the Flow

At the beginning it touched my heart;
I couldn't deny it that it was smart.
Throughout the school, students were joining
Some were forced and others were disappointing.
Disappointing that they refused
To be soldiers and be evilly used.

 The wave was dominating
and its principles for my mind were complicating.
 For equality it called,
but that principle was scrawled.
"Strength through community" was our salute,
but violence placed the wave in a dispute.
A dispute that made me withdraw,
and its demise I saw.
