Voice Poem - Animal Cruelty

Crying, hurt on my side.
I knew that i was going to die,
because of all the pain I was in
that was when I thought it was the end

Footsteps walking towards me.
I knew it was him even though I couldn't see,
for his boots always stomped on the ground
thats how we all knew when he was around.

Yelling, screaming things I could never understand,
then hitting slapping me with his hands.
Kicking me on the side with his hard boots
Thank goodness he left before he thought to shoot.

This how my life is day in, day out.
I wish my chain wasn't metal so I could run and shout.
In my dreams I would dash away,
from my abuser where I now lay.

Please send help or even come yourself
because I am a second away from killing my self.
I wish i could speak your language so I could tell you
that I will soon be dirt underneath his shoe.

  1. This poem is really good! I love how it tells a story instead of just speaking about the disasters of animal cruelty. Although I've never experienced or seen animal abuse I can sympathize with the narrator. I feel a connection with this animal, like I would never want an incident like this to occur to me. This poem is very emotionally moving and really shows the fear and desperation that one would have when going through an event as tragic as this. I feel another advantage to writting this poem from the animals point of view is that I don't see this abuse as less important because it is an animal I feel the same repulse and shock that I would feel if it was a human being. I wish I could speak your language so That I could tell you..." this line is really moving because it is true that many people many

  2. "I wish I could speak your language so that I could tell you.." this line is very powerful and moving because it is true that many people redirect their anger and emotional instability to animals because they cannot protest. In Islam the reason backbiting is so hated is because the person cannot defend his/herself. People tend to abuse and take advantage of those who cannot take a stand. This really gives animals a voice because they cannot speak our language and we must learn to treat them fairly regardless of that.
(had to separate this because I posted from my phone and it was going crazy but the previous comment is connected please excuse the lines after "human being".
